Dangers of Antifreeze in Kids and Pets

Nov 4, 2024

Antifreeze poses a serious danger to both kids and pets, with even a small amount being potentially toxic. Its sweet taste can attract both kids and animals, leading them to mistakenly drink it. The key ingredient of antifreeze, ethylene glycol, becomes toxic when the body metabolizes it. Ingesting antifreeze can cause severe damage to vital organs such as the kidneys and brain, and without prompt medical attention, it can be fatal. Here are some tips to ensure the safety of both children and pets:

1️⃣ Store antifreeze in its original container, locked and out of reach.

2️⃣ Avoid using antifreeze when children or pets are nearby.

3️⃣ Always secure the cap after use.

4️⃣ Don’t transfer antifreeze to different containers, especially those for food or drinks.

5️⃣ Clean up any spills immediately.
